President Obama has signed Senate Bill 3008, the Foreclosure Relief and Extension for Servicemembers Act of 2014, into law, extending the 12-month, post-discharge, protection period of SCRA (Servicemembers Civil Relief Act) for another year through December 31, 2015.

UTA has scheduled a Washington Lobby Day on February 12th in Olympia, Washington. Appointments will be arranged with legislators after a briefing provides UTA members with talking points from UTA’s Washington lobbyist, Holly Chisa.

The California Supreme Court has granted hearings on cases challenging assignments of deeds of trust in wrongful foreclosure cases. Phillip Adleson, Esq., and Lisa Parrella, Esq., Adleson, Hess & Kelly, UTA’s Corporate Counsel, provide an update cases related to defects allegedly rendering the assignment void.
