On Monday, October 29th, the opening session will feature Donna LaPorte, Esq. moderating a panel of Judges, including the Honorable Mitchell R. Goldberg and the Honorable Michael S. McManus, of the Bankruptcy Court for the Central District of California and the Eastern District of California respectively. The session, entitled “Order in the Court!” will discuss the issues and conflicts that affect our day-to-day operations.
You won’t want to miss “Lying, Cheating and Stealing”. Our expert panel of Chris Bolger, Dale Pitman and Bob Simpson will address various types of mortgage fraud through case studies and will demonstrate the ways in which your company is exposed to liability from mortgage fraud.
Phillip M. Adleson Esq., and Martin T. McGuinn, Esq., will lead a session entitled “Legal Roulette” on current foreclosure case law. Always ranked as one of our most popular sessions, the panel will address 2007 cases that impact foreclosure in many states and will include attorneys from six different states.

On Tuesday, October 30th, our legislative update panel, “Madam Speaker, We Have the Floor!” will provide us with updated news on legislation in several states and will cover many issues affecting default servicing. Led by Michael Belote, Esq., and Ronald D. Roup, Esq., updates from many states will be provided.
Our dynamic Bidding Strategies panel will provide an informative, economic perspective on bidding strategies, comparing the different types of foreclosure markets for bidding strategies in several regions. Paul Baumgartner, Felita Kealing, Matthew Kobin and Linda Orlans headline this session
Our “Bankruptcy Update” panel featuring Ben Levinson, Esq., Diane Weifenbach, Esq., and Donna La Porte, Esq., will discuss how recent bankruptcy decisions and the Bankruptcy Reform Act have impacted foreclosure practice in the last year as well as addressing pertinent bankruptcy issues that are still undecided by the Courts.
Finally, our “REO Behind the Scenes” panel led by Steven M. Dunsmore, Tom Moon and Angela Papalexis will teach members everything you wanted to know about REOs that late-night informercials won’t teach you. This session will address the many areas of REO disposition including Eviction, Evaluation, Property Management, Title Challenges and Closings.
