Strong turnout for industry Legislative Day

UTA’s Lobby Day, February 12th in Olympia, Washington and UTA’s 7th Annual California Legislative Day, March 16th in Sacramento, California was successful and enjoyed by all participants.

In Washington, several UTA members joined UTA’s Washington lobbyist, Holly Chisa and met directly with legislators to discuss the confusion surrounding the ‘owner/holder’ language that has created ambiguity. Also discussed was legislation that would prohibit secondary ownership of publishing newspapers.

In Sacramento, UTA joined California MBA and REOMAC on an industry Legislative Day that saw over 90 total participants. UTA’s group of 21 members lobbied members of the committee with jurisdiction over foreclosure related legislation and specifically lobbied for SB 290, a UTA-sponsored bill and lobbied against AB 244 and AB 1335 (see story). UTA members were briefed on the issues by UTA’s California lobbyist, Mike Belote.

The day included luncheon presentations by Jan Lynn Owen, Commissioner of the California Department of Business Oversight and Wayne Bell, the Commissioner of the California Bureau of Real Estate. Matt Dababneh, the new California Assembly Banking Committee Chair spoke at the dinner event.

Members also enjoyed a wonderful reception. The event was sponsored by Boardwalk Properties; Atlas Field Services; US REO Partners; CMG Financial; Green & Hall; Wells Fargo Home Mortgage; and Got Appraisals.
