Twenty-three members attended UTA’s 8th Annual California Lobby ‘Afternoon’ and dinner on Tuesday March 8th. Members met with State Senators and Assemblypersons on the Senate Banking and Financial Institutions Committee and the Assembly Banking & Finance Committee. Member lobbyists were provided with talking points developed by UTA’s California Lobbyist, Mike Belote.
Senator Mike Morrell (R-23rd), a member of the Banking and Financial Institutions Committee spoke to UTA about career in the title industry and his perspective on the proper role of government in society. Senator Morrell is carrying SB 983, a UTA sponsored bill that makes technical corrections to current law, including clarifying changes to the Notice of Bidders in Civil Code.
UTA’s Lobby Day on February 1st in Olympia, Washington was also effective as UTA’s Washington Lobbyist, Holly Chisa, arranged thirteen meetings with staff and legislators for attending members. Members educated lawmakers and prepped them for a bill in 2017 that will deal with owner/holder.
