Thank You UTA – Now On To Next Year!

Can you believe that Thanksgiving is this week?!   The year has flown by, and what a year it has been. We just had our 42nd annual UTA conference, and I want to personally thank everyone involved in making it a success.  There were lots of conference calls had and volunteer hours spent, and it would’ve never happened without the committees involved.  Again, thank you all.

We have received great recommendations for next year (November 4-6, 2018 in Las Vegas), and the new Education Committee will definitely consider each and every one of them.  I encourage and ask everyone to get involved and help make a difference.  If you have ideas for next year’s conference or want to be more involved in pending legislation, please know you can make a difference in membership and join one of our committees. We’d love to have you.

Every year we are all faced with a new challenge.  This year, it surfaced on June 12, 2017 when the Governor of Nevada signed a new Bill, which brought mediation back to the state of Nevada.  The new Bill has created lots of changes, and we continue to try to work through them so that we can move forward.  We have tried to keep members apprised of all required changes in processes through  updates, and will continue to do so as more updates are provided.

It’s important that we all continue to network and grow our relationships so that we have the ability to discuss similar matters with each other.  At this point, there is no reason why you shouldn’t be able to share best practices with your competitor, as there is plenty of work for everyone and we need to be most concerned about getting the job done right, verses being worried about sharing secrets.  I think our industry (at least in the West Coast), has grown more into this philosophy: that we are stronger in numbers.

As the year closes and we start to create and/or complete our checklist for year-end, please keep in mind that you never know what next year may bring; more directives, new laws and new challenges….

Isn’t that why we all stay in the business, because we love that challenge?!  Happy Holidays, everyone!
