Member Profile – Cathe Cole-Sherburn

This profile spotlights Cathe Cole-Sherburn, our longtime active UTA board member powerhouse. Cathe is a multi-term past President of the United Trustees Association and currently heads up our Education Committee as Chair. Her role includes responsibility for the upcoming annual education conference on November 7-9 in Reno, Nevada. The following are excerpts of our interview:

Cathe Cole-Sherburn

Cathe, what do you do, and for what company?

I am the Senior Vice President of Operations for Trustee Corps. I oversee five companies within the Trustee Corps umbrella:

– Trustee Corps

– Harmony Title Agency

– InSource Logic

– InSource Strategies, USA

– Special Default Services

What sets you apart from the competition at Trustee Corps?

My teams’ experience and customer service skills are what sets my company and me apart. I’m proud of my dedicated, hardworking Managers and our teams. My motto has always been “I’m only as good as my team,” therefore, I’ve chosen to surround myself with the best. I know I’m fortunate to have the best and brightest in our industry by my side.

What is the value of UTA for you?

UTA provides me with education and legislation opportunities. UTA is a fantastic resource for knowing what is going on in our industry and understanding the potential of what could be coming ahead.

What motivates you both in our industry and as a UTA board member?

Being a part of making a difference nationally is what motivates me every day. I try to encourage my entire team to get involved in our industry, as we are the ones who need to innovate and speak up with any potential law changes. Legislators are typically the ones who propose changes. However, the majority of the time, they don’t understand what the process is or the role is of a Trustee. It’s our job to lead this charge and help inform and influence the law.

If you could change or revise one thing about the default industry, what would it be?

Industry-wide standardization! This could include simple changes including standardizing the naming conventions for documents in client systems, client system processing, invoicing, required dates for Pacer/SCRA searches, etc. Client requirements can be overwhelming for staff, as clients all have different expectations.

What is your vision for our industry over the next 12 months?

As moratoriums are lifted, we are going to see unprecedented waves of defaults within the next year. Seamless communication is going to be essential across the industry. Trustee Corps is ready!
