John Babigian receives a resolution commemorating the MetNews press dedication

Long-time UTA Member John Babigian has died. UTA will honor John’s memory with an award presentation at the 39th Annual Conference in La Quinta, California. John served as Vice President of Metropolitan News Company from 1988 until his retirement in 2002. Prior to that, he worked for 27 years with the Daily Journal Corporation. His long career in the newspaper industry started as a teenager working for the Portland Press Herald.

John was very involved with and a major sponsor of UTA’s predecessor, CTA, throughout his career. John’s career began in the US Navy in 1950 during the Korean War. He was honorably discharged in 1954. He married Lily Mousian in 1957, and they lived together in San Marino, Calif., before retiring to their farm in Valley Center, Calif. John is survived by two children, his son Vahn C. Babigian, General Manager of Metropolitan News Company, and his daughter Lela Killion; and four granddaughters, Ashley Killion, Kelly Babigian, Leanne Babigian and Sarah Killion.
