UTA’s 39th Annual Educational Conference, held November 9th -11th at the La Quinta Resort & Spa in La Quinta, California received very high reviews by attendees.

The Education sessions received positive reviews from members:

  • On the “CFPB Rules” session sponsored by Metropolitan News Company and featuring Laurie Maggiano, Bob Caruso and Elizabeth Knight, moderated by Chris Pummill – “Good to get insight from the regulators themselves.”

  • On the Bankruptcy Update panel sponsored by Priority Posting and Publishing featuring Patric J. Kelly, Esq., Benjamin R. Levinson, Esq., Lee Raphael, Esq., and Mark S. Blackman, Esq., – “Effective because specific topics were addressed along with the history of the case and really engaging speakers.”
  • On the “Servicing Requirements and Challenges of Reverse Mortgages” session sponsored by Auction.com and featuring Cathe Cole-Sherburn as moderator with Randy Newman, Esq., and Edward Treder, Esq., – “Great new topic!”
  • On the Legislative Update session sponsored by Foreclosure Solution, Inc. and featuring Robert Finlay as moderator with Michael Belote, Esq., Cheryl Blomstrom, Holly Chisa, Shawn Miller, Scott Lundberg, Esq., and Rex C. Anderson, Esq., – “Always one of the best sessions at the conference. An excellent group of panelists.

Breakfast during the conference was enjoyed and sponsored by iMailTracking and Foreclosure Solution. The Annual Business Meeting luncheon and exhibitor raffle lunch was sponsored by Auction.com and Metropolitan News Company respectively and beverage breaks were enjoyed and sponsored by Daily Journal, STOX Posting & Publishing, Auction.com and WALZ.

Additionally, members enjoyed a first-rate dinner event held in Morgan’s Restaurant at the La Quinta Resort featuring various food stations with wine and UTA’s own in-house casino along with a pianist followed by a DJ and dancing. Twenty Two Silent Auction items were won by attendees; and many raffle prizes and exhibitor prizes were won by attendees as well.

“Excellent hotel and great topics” said one attendee. “Great place – loved the venue,” wrote another.

Awards were also presented to Martin McGuinn of Kirby & McGuinn, recipient of the Dorothy Schick Veteran Member of the Year Award and to Albert Garcia of Allied Trustee Services, recipient of the Suzanne Kelly New Member of the Year Award. Robert Finlay of Wright Finlay & Zak received a Lifetime Achievement award and Vahn Babigian of Metropolitan News accepted a recognition award on behalf of his father, John Babigian, who passed away earlier this year. Outgoing Board member Deborah Kaufman of RTS Pacific was honored for her service on the Board of Directors.

Those who attended participated in the golf tournament and the hike as well as a new event, the Wine and Paint session, had a great time at the social networking events.

“It was a great conference” said Chris Pummill of BDF Law Group, UTA’s Conference Committee Chair. “Members enjoyed the relaxing atmosphere at the La Quinta Resort, learned a lot and enjoyed an amazing dinner gala event.”
