Certification Courses Offered in Las Vegas on Saturday, November 12th
 Five certification courses offered
UTA will offer several state foreclosure certification course and exams on Saturday, November 12th at the Red Rock Resort, Casino & Spa the day before the 36th Annual Education Conference begins. In addition to the California Basic and California Intermediate Foreclosure Certification Course and Exams, courses and exams will offered for Arizona, Nevada, and Washington as well.
The following classes will be offered on November 12th:
- Washington Basic Foreclosure Certification Course & Exam. Instructors are Debbie Kaufman, Regional Trustee Services, and Joe Solseng, Esq., Robinson Tait.
- California Basic (Level I) Foreclosure Certification Course & Exam. Instructors are Randy Newman, Esq. of Total Lender Solutions and Marsha Townsend, of Mortgage Lender Services.
- California Intermediate (Level II) Foreclosure Certification Course & Exam. Instructors are Phillip M. Adleson, Esq., Adleson, Hess & Kelly and Ronald D. Roup, Esq., Roup & Associates. In order to sit for UTA’s California Intermediate Foreclosure Certification Exam (Level 2), members must pass the California Basic Foreclosure Exam (Level I).
- Arizona Basic Foreclosure Certification Course & Exam. The Instructor is Jane Myrick, of Security Title Agency.
- Nevada Basic Foreclosure Certification Course & Exam. Instructors are Michael R. Brooks, Esq., Brooks Bauer and Jeffrey J. Todd, Esq., Brooks Bauer.
Members may “challenge” any of the above exams on Saturday, November 12th or on Monday or Tuesday at 3:00 pm on November 14th or 15th. This means that members may simply take any of the one-hour exams without sitting through the course.
The Basic (Level 1) Foreclosure Certification Course Syllabus includes; Outline of state foreclosure procedures; Monetary and non-monetary defaults; Judicial v. nonjudicial foreclosures; What a Lender provides to the Trustee; What a Trustee does; Notice of Default (NOD); What a Lender receives from a Trustee; Review of Trustee's Sale Guarantees; Reinstatement; Notice of Sale (NOS); Presale Redemption; Sale; Trustee's Deed; Proceeds of Sale; Bankruptcy.
The Intermediate (Level II) Foreclosure Certification Course Syllabus include; complex foreclosures including multiple notes, multiple deeds of trust, cross-default clauses, mixed collateral loans, mechanics liens, IRS liens, special federal liens, special issues at the sale, forbearance or workout agreements and Bankruptcy (in more depth than required for basic certification).
In order to be a certified Trustee Sale Officer, one must fulfill all of the following criteria;
- Pass the certification exam with a score of at least 70%. (Non-members may take the course and exam but may not be certified unless they become a member within 30 days of sitting for the exam.)
- Maintain UTA membership in good standing.
- Attend either the Annual Education Conference OR three regional meetings within two years of certification.
In addition, for Level 2 Certification, a member must have been certified at Level 1.
Certification provides a measurement to recognize the skills and knowledge necessary to perform as a Trustee. UTA certification is designed so that employers and consumers will have confidence in the recipient's thorough knowledge of the nonjudicial foreclosure process.
