Legislative Committee Developing 2010 Wish List
UTA’s Legislative Committee, chaired by Ronald D. Roup, Esq. of Roup & Associates, is developing the Association’s ‘Legislative Wish List’ for 2010. The committee is inviting any UTA member with an interest in shaping the Association’s legislative policy to join the committee for an upcoming conference call that will develop and discuss such proposals. If you are interested in joining the Legislative Committee for the development and discussion of the 2010 Wish List, you may contact either Ron Roup or Richard Meyers - UTA Executive Director.
The committee already has three items on its (California) wish list for the year:
- Clarifying both SB 1137 and SBx27 so that it is clear that the declarations need not be under penalty of perjury.
- Fixing the notice provision in the sub-by-code section.
- Fixing Civil Code sections 2924j and 2924k to resolve a potential conflict between the two sections. This may be to the advantage of trustors losing their property.
The Legislative Committee reports to the Board of Directors on legislative issues of importance to the mission of UTA and is responsible for submitting its position on proposed legislation to the Board. The committee also oversees distribution of UTA's Political Action Committee – CTA-PAC.
