34th Annual Conference Features Top-Notch Educational Lineup

UTA’s 34th Annual Education Conference & Trade Show, held November 15-17th at the Red Rock Resort, Casino & Spa in Las Vegas, features an educational lineup that is sure to enlighten attendees on a variety of topics.  “Members will take a lot from this conference,” said Gary Wisham, UTA’s Education Chair.  “The lineup is packed.”

On Monday, November 16th, the opening session, moderated by UTA’s Legislative Committee Chair, Ron Roup, will feature UTA’s California lobbyist Mike Belote, and Mary Speidel, providing legislative updates from several states, including California and Texas.
 
You won’t want to miss “Order in the Court”, our always popular session featuring Donna LaPorte, Esq., moderating a panel of Judges including the Honorable Michael S. McManus, Chief US Bankruptcy Judge of the Eastern District of California; the Honorable Christopher M. Klein, U.S. Bankruptcy Judge, Eastern District of California and the Chief Judge of the Ninth Circuit Bankruptcy Appellate Panel and MBA Chairman David Kittle.  They’ll discuss loan mods, post-petition fees, the impact of new laws in California; and cramdowns.

Our luncheon speaker this year is Larry Spencer, Vice President, RealtyTrac, who will provide an Economic Forecast focusing on the default servicing industry and residential mortgage lending issues while providing economic and policy analysis of trends in the housing and mortgage markets

 

Rande Johnsen, Deborah Brignac, Randy Newman and Margaret Padilla will cap the day by leading a “Default Servicing Roundtable” that will allow trustees to exchange information concerning operations and best practices.


Our “Bankruptcy Update” panel featuring Ben Levinson, Esq., Mark Blackman, Esq., and Lee Raphael and Patric Kelly will discuss recent bankruptcy decisions and current issues including cramdowns of loans, lien stripping, the automatic stay, and title company issues.

On Tuesday, November 18th, our Legal Update Panel will be led by Phillip M. Adleson, Esq., and Martin T. McGuinn, Esq.,  The session will address local ordinances as well as 2009 cases that impact foreclosure in several states and federal laws that impact foreclosures.

Our second legislative update panel will provide us with updates from Nevada, Oregon, and Washington and will feature UTA’s Nevada, Washington and Oregon lobbyists, Rocky Finseth, Holly Chisa and Drew Hagedorn, as well as Verise Campbell, the Administrator of the new Nevada Mediation Program.

Our “Foreclosure:  Not for the Faint of Heart” session features Spencer Scheer, Esq., and Chet Sconyers and will comprehensively explain the “rules of the road” and help trustees navigate the avalanche of conflicting demands both before and during the foreclosure process.

Finally, our “Ask The Experts” Session interactive session, led by UTA’s President Rande Johnsen, will provide attendees with the opportunity to ask a representative from each panel from the conference, detailed questions.
