Nevada Mediation Program To Include $200 Fee Assessment

At the behest of Nevada Assembly Speaker Barbara Buckley, (D-Las Vegas), Nevada has passed legislation that increases to $200, a fee assessment on financial institutions when they file a foreclosure notice. (The fee assessment was $50.) Speaker Buckley had originally proposed a $500 fee assessment. The legislation was signed into state law by the Governor during an emergency session this week.

The legislation increases the filing fee to $200 for NODs, and states that the beneficiary who "causes to be recorded the notice of default" cannot charge the grantor any portion of the $200 fee. The new fee assessment of $200 becomes effective on all NODs recorded on or after April 1, 2010.
