We’ll be playing the La Quinta Resort Dunes Course at the La Quinta Resort & Club.
This par-72 Pete Dye-designed course offers traditional rolling links-style golf with Scottish and Irish flair, characterized by rolling mounds framing manicured fairways and thick rough. The course provides an invigorating round of golf against a backdrop of rugged mountain landscapes. Length, strength and finesse are the key to scoring well on this course, which has hosted the PGA Club Professional Championship, the PGA Tour Final Qualifying School, the California State Open and the Ladies NCAA Championship.
The event includes a Putting Contest; a Longest Drive and a ‘Closest to the Pin’ Contest. Prizes will include an incredible hole-in-one prize. Check-in begins at 9 a.m. with Tee Time of 10 a.m. Putting contest is held after the tournament. A box lunch will be provided on the course.

In this exciting three-hour hands-on culinary event, we will work with Chef Gavin to prepare a special lunch meal. Chef Gavin will split the group into three teams, appetizer/starter, main entrée and dessert. Chef Gavin will be providing instruction and encouragement to all teams in the large kitchen area. After all the dishes are completed the entire group will relax and enjoy a delicious lunch, wine and conversation. You can’t beat the camaraderie found within the United Trustees Association.

After a hard day on the golf course or cooking, relax for a while and catch up with friends and colleagues at UTA’s Welcome Reception. Visit exhibitor booths and purchase raffle tickets early – because raffle prizes will be given away after each session!
Rick Sharga, Chief Marketing Officer of Ten-X, will provide information and analyses and forecast the economic environment, housing activity, demographics, and mortgage markets – and will provide predictions for the default servicing industry based on the following day’s Presidential election!
Sheryl Vacca, a nationally recognized expert in corporate compliance and auditing, serves as the University of California’s Senior Vice President and Chief Compliance and Audit Officer. In this session, Ms. Vacca will address how to conduct a compliance risk assessment and address the myriad of risks in the banking industry regulatory arena so that the priority risks will be mitigated through ongoing monitoring or prioritized to address through management corrective action plans.
This session will address Fannie Mae’s announcement regarding uninsured two-owner title report and/or limited TSG for foreclosure matters and allowable title cost. We will also discuss how the two-owner title report will affect all those involved, from Servicer, Trustee, Title to REO.
Amy Quester, Senior Counsel, Office of Regulations of the CFPB, will address a new final rule that the CFPB issued in August 2016 which amends various provisions of the mortgage servicing rules in Regulation X and Regulation Z. Among other topics, the final rule covers successors in interest, a definition of delinquency, periodic statements, loss mitigation, early intervention, servicing transfers, bankruptcy, force-placed insurance, and the small servicer definition. The rule will not be effective by November, so servicers will still be in implementation mode.
During lunch we will honor outgoing UTA President Randy Newman as well as the 2016 Dorothy Schick Veteran Member of the Year and the 2016 Suzanne Kelly New Member of the Year. The annual meeting will include Board Elections for 2017.
Our panel of servicers will address:
• The top 3 issues/delays servicers identified in 2016 after referrals were submitted and their suggestions and recommendations moving forward.
• Feedback from service audit teams on the most common issues found during file or on-site audits and what may be expected from audit teams in 2017.
• New requirements that may be needed to prepare for in 2017 in Vendor Management requirements/compliance.
• What impact are Title Issues having within the foreclosure process and at REO?
Our foreclosure legal update panel will address a myriad of cases in California and all Western states. This session covers all of the key relevant court cases from the past year in a rapid-fire, yet detailed format that provides informative and practical information.
UTA members will enjoy a night of dining and networking at the Association’s annual dinner gala event. This year’s event will pay homage to democracy and election day. The ‘All-American’ event will feature barbecue food and carnival presidential games and two rounds of ‘Jeopardy’ with questions featuring US Presidents, the states, and Hollywood. UTA’s annual silent auction will be held as well. At 8:00 pm, the dancing begins.
Note: Casual attire.
This session will provide important information on recent bankruptcy decisions that have impacted foreclosure practice and real estate law. Current issues being litigated will be addressed with a specific emphasis on how cases impact the trustee.
Our Legislative Update panel will provide us with detailed summaries of the key issues and bills addressed this year in California, Nevada, Washington, Utah and Arizona.
An assessment program which has been in existence since 2008 that finances energy efficiency upgrades or renewable energy installations for all types of properties known as PACE (Property Assessed Clean Energy) or HERO (Home Energy Renovation Opportunity) is ramping up and will affect you the trustee. The assessments can be used to finance water efficiency products, seismic retrofits, solar panels, heaters, air conditioners, and so much more. These assessments have super-priority over deeds of trust that can last up to twenty years on residential property, thirty years on commercial. This session explains the program and addresses what trustees need to know about the program. It will change the way a trustee explains what “runs” with the property after a foreclosure sale, timing issues of what appears to be “tax sales”, etc. This is a must see seminar to fully understand the new dangers of the program.
Enjoy a delicious lunch while our gracious exhibitors announce their prize winners.
Join us as we watch the Presidential election results come in beginning at 3 pm.
